Interior Console Design
I led the design of the interior display console for the Waymo I-PACE, the singular hub through which passengers interact with the autonomous vehicle. In a driverless car, this console replaces the driver as the point of communication, control, and reassurance, so the stakes were high. My design intent was to integrate it seamlessly into the existing JLR center console so it felt like a natural extension of the vehicle rather than an aftermarket add-on, while simultaneously creating a moment that was unmistakably Waymo.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Designing hardware to disappear
From a design philosophy standpoint, the goal was to make the bezel disappear and let the UI sing. I worked with product to source automotive-grade sample displays in every available aspect ratio, then organized a collaborative review with product, vehicle engineering, and UX design, cycling through every display, in every orientation, in the actual vehicle buck. We tested in the garage for low-light conditions and out in the courtyard for high-light, running reflection studies to ensure visibility across the full range of real-world lighting. Display angle was carefully chosen to eliminate rear window reflections, and a large portrait format was ruled out due to fragility concerns and interference with the front passenger armrest. The result was a console that felt fresh, refined, and commensurate with what the vehicle represents.
