About
Josh Newby is an industrial designer and design leader with over a decade of experience at the intersection of robotics, autonomy, and physical product development.
He joined Google X's self-driving car project in 2016 when the design team was just three people, and helped build Waymo's physical brand and design language from scratch leading the design of the award-winning vehicles now operating on streets across the US. He went on to build and lead Cruise's first in-house vehicle industrial design team, where he led the design of their next-generation autonomous vehicle. Most recently he founded curv lab, a design-engineering studio where he designs, engineers, and ships products while growing a global community from the ground up.
Josh brings a rare combination of hands-on engineering depth, design leadership, and entrepreneurial instinct. He's led programs from first sketch through mass production tooling, built teams inside highly technical organizations, and knows how to make complex hardware feel intuitive, trustworthy, and human.
